“Lutoland, or the Home Theatre of Mr. Tralaliński”

The Witold Lutosławski Society and the BGŻ Foundation present the recording of the concert “Lutoland”, which took place on June 22, 2007, during the Witold Lutosławski Festival “Chain IV” at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw (DVD 2008).

Works by Lutosławski written for children continue to inspire the imagination of the youngest members of community and stimulate their musical development. To meet the demand in didactic-entertainment realizations for children and the youth, Jadwiga Rappé, singer, pedagogue and president of the Witold Lutosławski Society decided to undertake the creation of a staged concert titled “Lutoland”, with the Polish Master’s works intended for young performers: instrumentalists, singers, and dancers. She entrusted the realization of the idea to the superb director and author of many great undertakings of similar nature, Hanna Chojnacka, and the stage designer Elżbieta Tolak.

The recording presents two versions of Witold Lutosławski’s Lacrimosa: an authored transcription of the original as performed by Julita Mirosławska (soprano) and Jarosław Malanowicz (organ), as well as Jakub Burzyński’s arrangement for soprano and five string instruments as performed by Julita Mirosławska and the ensemble La Tempesta under the direction of Jakub Burzyński. The disc also includes Luigi Boccherini’s Stabat Mater (CD 2008).
